'CREATING THE BUZZ'
Start Date: 02/09/2010
End Date: 02/09/2010
Discover Inverclyde is delighted to be able to offer a unique opportunity for local businesses in the tourism, retail, leisure and the arts sectors to find out about the Social Media Revolution at a half day workshop here in Inverclyde on Thursday 2nd September 2010.
‘The social media revolution presents major opportunities, but also threats, for Inverclyde tourism/retail/arts/leisure businesses’ said Discover Inverclyde Director Andy McGilp. ‘As a consequence of customer-to-customer interaction and collaboration in online communities, user generated content and people empowerment, the traditional sales, marketing and brand promotion strategies are declining in effectiveness. Rather than talking ‘at’ or ‘to’ customers, social media presents exciting new opportunities for talking ‘with’ your customers i.e. marketing as a ‘conversation with your customers, a conversation with your network’.
‘The ‘Creating the Buzz’ half day workshop, led by acknowledged social media experts, Dr. Jim Hamill and Alan Stevenson of the University of Strathclyde, will ensure that your business is fully aware of both the business opportunities and threats presented by social media and the key issues involved in developing, implementing and managing effective social media strategies for achieving sustained business growth and competitiveness. I feel this is a must for Inverclyde businesses to grasp, especially those whose knowledge of this media is limited.’
‘Creating the Buzz’ is aimed mainly at business owners, regardless of size, plus Managing Directors, Senior Executives, Business Development and Marketing Managers from the larger companies in tourism, retail, leisure and the arts in Inverclyde who are keen to know about how to take advantage of these emerging new media opportunities. The Workshop will have a clear focus on the bottom line business benefits to be derived from effective use of social media.
Attendance is FREE for Discover Inverclyde members or £10 for non members (plus you can bring another person free). This includes a sandwich lunch for all attendees.
The event takes place in the Conference Room at Inverclyde Leisure’s Waterfront Centre on Thursday 2nd September from 9:30am – 12:30pm.
